OUR STORY:

We at Targetpicks.com take a different approach to the job of forecasting NFL results than most other services. We don't have cigar-smoking guys wearing fedoras and going by names like "Vinnie", "Fast Eddie", or "Mr. PIck 'Em" on our staff.  We have computer nerds who happen to love Pro Football.

Because of our background in engineering, mathematics and computer programming, we decided to try something new.

Introducing FBOMS.

FBOMS is an acronym for the Football Betting Odds Mathmatical System.

FBOMS took over 25 years to develop and has been refined over the years to become a powerful system that can "learn" each week of the season. The original core software was written by a programming student as a project for a DEC PDP11/04 computer in 1979.  At that time, the computer was programmed using punch cards which made it nearly impossible to perfect and very difficult to update.

By 1988 the software had been rewritten for use with an Intel processor.  The difficulty then was the input of all the statistical information and the limited calculation power of the hardware.

1994 saw the software again rewritten using the C and C++ languages.  This, combined with more processing speed, gave the software much more power.

In 2004 the latest version of FBOMS was written.  It now uses the original C++ engine, coupled with spreadsheet and database functions for output and input.

The current version of FBOMS was released in 2006 and it has consistently picked more accurately than its predecessors.  Running on an ultra-fast platform, the system today is over 400 times faster than the original.  This allows todays version of FBOMS to do incredible amounts of number crunching, exponentially more calculations than the original program.

Today Targetpicks.com uses FBOMS version PN92.095.zr.p
